What its like to have a heart attack in your 20s or 30s

A heart attack occurs when blood flow is significantly reduced or stopped altogether. That may occur if there is a narrowing of the arteries supplying the heart with blood as a result of an accumulation of fat, cholesterol, or other substances. In the United States, a heart attack occurs every 40 seconds, according to the American Heart Association.

Heart attack symptoms can include:

chest pain or discomfort
breathing difficulty
I started to get a cold sweat.
Nausea\sLightheadedness
Arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach discomfort
Shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, back or jaw pain, and other symptoms not typically associated with heart attacks are more prevalent in women.

Heart Attacks as a Young Person

And while it is true that as you get older, your risk of having a heart attack increases, young people are still susceptible to them. Heart attacks can occur at any age and are typically brought on by:

High cholesterol and blood pressure
Obesity
Smoking\sDiabetes
unsound lifestyle decisions
At least one of the top three risk factors—high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking—is present in half of all Americans. These illnesses develop earlier in life and cause heart disease. For instance, one in six children between the ages of 2 and 19 who are obese.
