Safe Bug Sprays to Use This Summer

When it comes to being outdoors and enjoying all that nature has to offer, nothing can quite rain on your parade like mosquitoes. These little annoying insects will bite you relentlessly. Not only do the bites hurt, but they can actually carry some pretty bad diseases. So, it is in your best interest to keep mosquitoes from biting you and your family this summer.

When people think of bug sprays, they usually think of some sort of harsh chemical which may do damage to the person who is being treated. But, all-natural and totally safe insect repellants do exist. In this article we want to go over a few things you can do to keep the mosquitoes away this summer.

Insect Repellant Spray

Brad from Sunstate Pest Control, who offer pest control in Melbourne, FL., recommends all natural pine-based sprays. These sprays use nothing but natural oils from trees as the main ingredient. The good news is they actually work! There are other types of all-natural repellants on the market as well. Just read the labels.

Plants that Repel Mosquitoes

Spend an afternoon gardening around your home and make sure to plant some or all of these plants:

  • lemongrass
  • lemon balm
  • sage
  • eucalyptus
  • thyme
  • allium

All of these plants have natural insect repellant qualities. Place them all around the areas where you or your family hang out most.

Make sure not to let water collect anywhere near your home. Still bodies of water is where mosquitoes lay their eggs. It can be as simple as an old toy your kid left on the side of the house that has a small amount of water collected in it. This tiny puddle can hold hundreds of mosquito larva.

Screened in patios and sliding screen doors also help prevent this pest from entering your home.

Have a safe and happy summer.
